IDLP is an international driving association. The road traffic rules and regulations vary from country to country subject to the national laws. IDLP is valid in all countries that have signed the UN Conventions on Road Traffic and are recognized in many countries that are not signatories to the convention, too. You may be required to have an international driver’s license to drive in some countries. Most foreign car rental agencies ask for you to have one to rent a car. IDLP is a card and booklet that aims to help you overcome language barriers, providing translations in 15 languages, fully compliant with the UN Convention and associated with your driver’s license and a legal document that recognizes motorists as valid licensed drivers in the country they have traveled to. This document states that you hold a valid government-issued driver’s license in your home country and is the official translation of your driver’s license.

This document is a translation of your government-issued driver’s license in 15 languages. Although it allows you to drive in many foreign countries, it is not a complete substitute for a government-issued license. It cannot be used as a government-issued driver’s license. And you should know that it will not protect you from traffic fines or “points”.
